October 2025
Hello Friend,
I met John about a year ago. I picked him up from his high school campus one evening after high school soccer practice. He is a junior at a local school and wanted to check out Campus Life because his girlfriend at the time was involved with us. So, John, his girlfriend, and two other kids packed into my car for our ride to the Campus Life Clubhouse on a Monday night. The conversation was lively, and I learned quickly that John was highly outgoing and seemed interested in trying new things. That led him to want to come see what this “Campus Life thang” was all about. When John entered the Clubhouse, he was immediately drawn to the pool table where the two of us began a friendly, yet competitive, game. In the middle of the game, John spotted a golf visor sitting on one of our bookshelves. It was a prize left over from our recent Youth For Christ golf fundraiser. And right there on the visor was written “Youth For Christ.” It was the word “Christ” that caught his attention, and he gave a quick response. “I’m not into any of that religion stuff,” he quipped. I made a quick comment that I hoped would draw out more of his story. He continued, “I just don’t see how we can know anything is true. So, I don’t want to talk about any God stuff.” And so, our relationship began. Fast forward a year. John is now a regular. He is with us for club, most every Monday night, has taken a trip with us and is the first student we see when we enter his lunchroom at school. Over these many months, numerous conversations have taken place about life, God, and what’s wrong with this crazy world we live in. And though John has not yet embraced the Good News of Jesus, he is more and more comfortable talking about the topic. John, like many students we work with, has questions. Questions about God and questions for God, if He is real. Patiently, our leaders have sat and listened to him, and done their best to answer his questions. “You have changed my opinion about Christians. I used to not like or trust God people. But that’s all changed. Maybe one day I will be one too.” Huge progress for a kid who believed there was no truth to be found in this world just a year ago. Our goal at Youth For Christ/Campus Life is to build authentic Christ-sharing relationships with students who feel far from God. We build these trusting relationships where God can work in hopes that each and every student will come to share in the hope of Jesus Christ that we have found. When you give of your time and resources you make these Christ-sharing relationships possible. May I share with you a few specific ways you can do that this month?
1. Give to Youth For Christ. Your gift, no matter the size, will help us reach more students.
2. We need drivers on Thursday afternoons from 2:30 to 3:30 to transport students to our Clubhouse.
3. Volunteer in the office. Have an hour or two to give? We need your help.
4. Recruit your group for a service project at our Clubhouse. If you have a team of five or more, we can find a time that works for you. Painting, cleaning, organizing, etc
For any of the above items just write a quick note on the enclosed form, email me at mike@tuscaloosayfc.com or give us a call at 205.752.3361.
Thank you on behalf of John and hundreds of other students who have found a safe place to make friends and to explore faith in Christ. It is an incredible honor to partner with you.
In Christ,
Mike Green
