GOD HAS ALWAYS BEEN THERE FOR ME

story

Your support walks with kids. Year after year. When John arrived at Campus Life in 6th grade, he was full of energy and questions. He loved being around friends and leaders who cared about him. But John came from a Muslim family. When his parents learned that Campus Life was a Christian organization, they told him he couldn’t attend our after-school programs anymore. For over a year, John continued to join us at the morning club at his school and engaged in conversations with our leaders in the lunchroom. But we never saw him in the afternoon. For a year and a half, John heard the Gospel at Campus Life and filled out our response cards faithfully, writing “I’m Muslim” every time. He wanted us to know who he was—but he also kept showing up. Then his parents allowed him to come back to our after-school programs, allowing us to strengthen our relationship with him. We weren’t sure why exactly, but we were glad to have him back. One week during another time of response, something changed. John checked “Yes,” signifying that he wanted to begin a relationship with Jesus. Conversations with John indicated his new commitment was authentic.
Then John’s family had to deal with the tragic loss of a family member. The outgoing boy we knew became quiet and withdrawn. Our leaders kept showing up. Conversations continued. As we talked with John about faith in Christ, he seemed confused and unsure. Our leaders were patient and made themselves available. Over time, he began to open up again. John is now in high school. A few weeks ago, he was given the opportunity to stand in front of the entire Campus Life club and share. He told his friends to “not keep their problems inside. Share them with others. It will help.” Emboldened by the chance to share, John then sent this text to a leader asking if he could share this message with his friends.

Before you think everyone has left you remember God is there for you.
God sends things into your life not because he doesn’t like you but
because he knows you can handle it… you gotta put your trust in God.
You may think God hates you for all the wrong you have done like sinning
but that’s the reason Jesus died on the cross … You are one of His
children. Never lose hope.
Jeremiah 29:11 “as long as God keeps waking you up, he has a plan for
you.”

That night John stood up and told his friends to trust in Christ. Several students said “Yes” to following Christ that night. God is working in John’s life and in the lives of many students like him. We currently serve students from Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, and Wiccan backgrounds. Other kids are self- proclaimed atheists and agnostics. They all come to Campus Life because they feel like they belong and are loved. They have all found a safe place to explore faith in Christ. And many have said “Yes” to Jesus. These relationships don’t happen overnight. They take time, consistency, prayer, and faithful partners like you. Your support makes it possible for our leaders to walk with students like John through middle school and into high school, through hard times, and into a life with Christ. Would you consider giving today, so that more kids like John can have a Christ-sharing relationship that provides hope and changes everything? We have contact with hundreds of students who need a Christ-sharing friend. But our opportunities have outgrown our funding. We need your help more than ever. We need your help now. The Christmas season and the end of calendar year are times that many choose to give significantly to the causes they believe in. For Youth For Christ, the months of November and December are critical for us to solidify our funding base for ministry expansion in 2026.
