God Uses People To Tell His Story

Hannah, Leigh, Braxton, Riley, Frank, Charlotte, Kynnlee, and Alexuis said “yes” to Jesus.

For the past seven months, our team of leaders has been investing in the lives of students at a local middle school. Every Thursday morning, they get ready before sunrise and make their way to the school where they laugh, listen and love kids. Throughout the year we talk about topics that are relevant to youth. We talk about relationships, peer pressure and handling our emotions. Through these topics we introduce God’s perspective as laid out in scripture. We listen to their stories and we challenge kids with pieces of God’s story. But today we shared The Story. We shared the story of God’s redemptive plan through the death and resurrection of His Son.

Students didn’t say a word. Which is quite amazing with a room packed with 11 to 13 year-old students. They sat and listened. As the story of Jesus was shared every eye and ear was fixed on the message. God was at work in hearts. We invited students to not only be rescued from sin. But we asked them to allow God to change their hearts. We shared that God wants them to begin a life where they become more and more like Jesus each day. The young people listed above all said “yes” to that invitation.

Now what? As God continues His work in their lives, we will help launch kids in their new faith journey. In the coming days we plan to meet with these new believers and share more about who Jesus is. We will talk about the purpose of prayer, Bible study and how to connect with a church. We will answer questions and prepare them for the doubts, fears and confusion that so often accompanies new followers of Jesus. We will continue to be there for them.
One of our college leaders was at a bit of a loss for words after our club this morning. She was moved by what she had just witnessed. With tears filling her eyes all she could say was “This is fun.” And she is right. Nothing is more “fun” than being used by God to deliver the Good News of His Son to teens in need of a Savior. I was reminded how impactful and life-changing this ministry experience is for our leaders.

You can make a difference in the life of a teenager who does not yet know Jesus by becoming a Ministry Leader. Across our community, Youth For Christ comes in contact with hundreds of teens who feel far from God and His love. With a small investment of time you can build an authentic Christ-sharing relationship with one or more of our teens. We need more leaders who can join us in this great mission.
