Recently on a road trip back from Birmingham I was thinking about the hectic schedule I faced in the coming week. How could I get it all done? Then it struck me. I get the opportunity to walk onto high school and middle school campuses, engage students in conversation and eventually share the hope that can only be found in a relationship with our Savior. No matter how draining my schedule may feel some days … I GET TO DO THIS! Over my 25 years here in Tuscaloosa I have had the incredible privilege of seeing hundreds of students make lifelong commitments to follow Jesus. I get to see first-hand God at work in the hearts of kids.
One of the other great joys of serving in this role is the many staff, volunteers, and financial partners I have been able to serve alongside. I think we will all admit that God has done as much in our hearts and lives as he has in our kids. God has been faithful to all of us.
So where do we go from here? The unsettling truth is there are more kids who never walk through the doors of a church than ever before. These students flood our schools each day looking for meaning, purpose and hope. This is our mission field. This is where God has called us. If you are new to Youth For Christ I invite you to join us. We need you on our team. The “harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” We need far more workers.
Join us and give life to your story.
